Hello George,

Really enjoying looking at your bird photographs. Became interested when we lived in Fair Isle for a couple of years. We lived in the Old Hall which had a bird trap at the back. We used to catch birds before we went to school and put them in a bag until the 'birdman' came to pick them up and ring them. I was only 7 at the time. My daughter is very jealous when I tell her about catching the birds but to us it was just a normal morning. Great days.

Shire.

Thats very interesting, I was just reading a post by  shetlandwild, on twitter..

Another great day: Dave and group on Fair Isle had the Olive-backed Pipit again, and a Barred Warbler on the window ledge of the guest house! This was at the old haa.. They maintain they serve the best meals on Fair Isle.. its a small world..  ;D

My friends the Gerrards, tony & beth, were out there a couple of weeks ago.. they love it..

I was a wee bit disappointed at Sandgarth yesterday, the birds were a little camera shy  ::)

But I did see a few blackcaps, goldcrest and a robin..

I got one photo of the goldcrest, but it was deep in the pine-tree, so i will not show it, the blackcaps would'nt stay still long enough for me to get a photo, but the robin did, albiet a bit far away.. here he is, about 100 feet from me..
